Improving media coverage on HIV

Despite huge advances around HIV, ignorance about HIV remains prevalent. Inaccurate news coverage about HIV in the media fuels stigma and discrimination. NAT (NAT) looked at 400 news stories about HIV from recent months. Over a third (approx. 35%) of local news reports that mentioned HIV transmission included incorrect information or stigmatising language.

Please contact your MP, asking them to get in touch with your local newspapers to encourage them to report accurately about HIV and to share NAT’s new guide: Reporting HIV: how to get it right.
